No! Your box has excellent eco-friendly insulation designed to keep your meals fully chilled for at least 12 hours after delivery.
Your meals are good for 5-7 days in your fridge thanks to special packaging that avoids the need for artificial preservatives.
While rootberry meals are best consumed fresh, you can freeze some if you can't eat all your meals by their best-by date.
The meals we find freeze best include our Baked Vegetable Ziti, Breakfast Scramble, Kung Pao Cauliflower, Tamale Pie, Three Bean Chili and Cornbread, Tikka Masala, Vegetable Pad Thai, and Veggie Bolognese; our desserts can be frozen as well.
To cook a meal from frozen, thaw in the fridge overnight, then heat per the package directions. Meals and desserts can be frozen for up to 3 months.
Yes! Our boxes are made from recycled cardboard and can be recycled the same as any other cardboard product. The soft liner is made from a recycled cotton blend and is completely biodegradable. The ice packs contain a food-safe, non-toxic, and water-soluble gel solution. This solution can be emptied into the trash, and the case can be recycled. We DO NOT recommend emptying the solution down the drain. Our meal containers are recyclable as well.
